When to go
April is warm and dry in Las Vegas, and NOAA's climate normals for the airport station, listed in the facts, show a few very hot afternoons alongside cool nights, so pack sun protection, water and a layer for the evening. The Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend is held at The Orleans early in the month, Home + History Las Vegas, a heritage festival, follows in the middle of the month, and Springs Preserve holds its Earth Day Celebration on the Saturday of that same weekend, so check those dates against your trip.
Trip facts
- NOAA NCEI's monthly normals (1991-2020) list an average daily high of 78.5 and an average daily low of 56.9 degrees Fahrenheit for the Las Vegas airport station (listed by NCEI as Las Vegas McCarran AP) in April. (www.ncei.noaa.gov, checked )
- NOAA NCEI's monthly normals (1991-2020) list average monthly precipitation of 0.20 inches for the Las Vegas airport station in April, and an average of 3.5 days with a maximum temperature at or above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. (www.ncei.noaa.gov, checked )
- The Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend's site lists Viva Las Vegas 30 for April 8-11, 2027 at The Orleans Hotel, 4500 W. Tropicana Ave, Las Vegas. (vivalasvegas.net, checked )

- Harry Reid International Airport's ride share page says Lyft and Uber are authorized at the airport, that ride share drop-off is at the regular departures curbs at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, that Terminal 1 pick-up is on Level 2 of the parking garage and that Terminal 3 pick-up is on the Valet Level of the parking garage. (www.harryreidairport.com, checked )
- Harry Reid International Airport's page on all options to and from the airport answers 'Does the Monorail go to the airport?' with 'No, the Monorail does not serve LAS.' (www.harryreidairport.com, checked )
- The Las Vegas Monorail's route page says the route consists of 3.9 miles of elevated tracks with seven stations, from the MGM Grand on the South Strip to the SAHARA on the North Strip, with trains arriving every four to eight minutes. (www.lvmonorail.com, checked )
- RTC Southern Nevada's fares page says the Deuce provides service approximately every 15 minutes along the Las Vegas Strip and in downtown Las Vegas, and that visitors are required to pay Strip and All Access fares. (www.rtcsnv.com, checked )
- RTC Southern Nevada's Deuce on the Strip schedule says the route operates 24 hours a day, every day. (rtcws.rtcsnv.com, checked )
- The Federal Trade Commission's FAQ on its Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees says that, effective May 12, 2025, a business that advertises short-term lodging prices must tell people the total price upfront, including mandatory fees (it gives a mandatory resort fee as an example), while the total shown upfront does not need to include taxes or other government charges. (www.ftc.gov, checked )

Flights
Compare flights into Harry Reid International Airport, where the airport says ride share pick-up is inside the parking garages. The airport also says the Monorail does not serve it, so plan your first leg to the Strip separately. The TSA's REAL ID page says travelers must be REAL ID compliant to board domestic flights, so check your identification before you leave. Check the airlines directly for current flight and route information.

Where to stay
Compare staying on the Strip with staying Downtown, weighing the walk to a Monorail station or a Deuce stop against how much time you plan to spend at your resort. If your dates overlap the Viva Las Vegas weekend, check availability and cancellation terms early and check how far each option is from The Orleans. The Federal Trade Commission says lodging prices must show the total including mandatory fees up front, so compare the total shown rather than the nightly rate.

Getting around
The Monorail links MGM Grand at the south end of the Strip with SAHARA at the north end, and the RTC's Deuce bus serves the Strip and Downtown around the clock. The RTC says visitors must pay the Strip and All Access fares, so check its fares page before you board. The Monorail's route ends at MGM Grand and SAHARA, so check how you will reach events away from that corridor, such as Springs Preserve or The Orleans, before you plan a day around them.
