Rio de Janeiro in March
When to go
March is still a warm, wet month in the weather normals that the WMO relays from Brazil's national weather service, and the Alerta Rio site run by the city government shows the current rain situation. Riotur's history page dates the city's founding to the first of March, so check Riotur for planned events around that date. A federal decree ended daylight saving time nationwide, so check the current time difference with your home city before you travel.

Flights
Check Brazil's entry rules before you book: the Brazilian consulate in New York says United States citizens need a visitor visa, applied for online as an e-Visa. When you compare flights, check which airport each itinerary uses and its arrival time, and remember that Brazilian law places the State of Rio de Janeiro in a time zone behind Greenwich. The State Department's page for Brazil is the place to check current travel advisories.
