Queenstown in February
When to go
The World Meteorological Organization's normals for Queenstown, supplied by the New Zealand National Meteorological Service, list the typical highs, lows and precipitation for February. Employment New Zealand lists two possible observed dates for Waitangi Day, and Destination Queenstown's summer guide lists Gin Fest Arrowtown and The Valley in Gibbston that same weekend, the Shotover Moonlight Mountain Marathon later in the month and the New Zealand Golf Open near Arrowtown in the last days of the month. The Routeburn Track is in its Great Walks season, when DOC says hut and campsite bookings are required.

Flights
Immigration New Zealand lists the United States among its visa waiver countries and says passport holders need a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority before they travel, and the same agency explains the International Visitor Levy that many tourists pay when they request one. The government's Traveller Declaration site says every traveller must also complete a declaration, which can be submitted up to a day before the trip begins. Destination Queenstown lists direct flights into Queenstown from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and from several Australian cities, so compare connections through those airports and check the airlines directly for current flight and route information.
