When to go

June brings the start of summer to Québec City. Environment and Climate Change Canada's most recent normals for the Jean Lesage airport station list the month's typical highs and lows and its rain days, so pack layers and a rain jacket and check the forecast close to your dates. The Québec government's Fête nationale site says the capital celebrates on the twenty-third and twenty-fourth of June, with a large show on the Plains of Abraham, and Destination Québec cité lists the free KWE! Meet with Indigenous Peoples event in mid-June.

Flights

The Canada Border Services Agency recommends a valid passport for US citizens and notes that airlines may ask for different documents, so check both, along with the State Department's page for Canada, before you book. Québec City's airport takes part in Advance Declaration in the ArriveCAN app, but its FAQ says there is no US customs preclearance there, so check how US entry works on your return route. RTC buses link the airport with Sainte-Foy and with downtown, and the terminal has an RTC ticket machine. Check the airlines directly for current flight and route information.

Where to stay

Destination Québec cité suggests Old Québec for a first visit and for exploring on foot, and Saint-Roch, Montcalm or Saint-Jean-Baptiste for a more local stay within an easy walk of the old town. If you plan to drive, it points to areas outside the centre, such as Sainte-Foy near the airport.
