When to go

March falls outside the eastern Pacific hurricane season, which the National Hurricane Center says runs from mid-May to the end of November. The third Monday of March is a mandatory rest day under Mexican federal labor law, so check opening hours and tour schedules around it. The tourism board lists a trail running race, Puerto Vallarta, México by UTMB, early in the month, and last season's whale-watching window from the federal environment ministry closed in March, so check this season's notice before you plan a tour.
