Osaka in June
When to go
June is rainy season in Osaka: the Japan Meteorological Agency's normal start for its Kinki region, which includes Osaka Prefecture, is in early June and the normal end is in the second half of July, and the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau warns of intermittent rain and humid summers. The WMO normals show a warm month with a large monthly precipitation total, and the agency's table shows the dates vary from year to year. The bureau says the irises at Shirokita Park bloom in May and June, so plan outdoor visits for drier spells and keep indoor options in reserve.

Flights
The tourism bureau names the JR Kansai Airport Rapid and Nankai Railways as convenient train routes from Kansai International Airport into the city, with limousine buses as another option and travel times that vary with traffic and the train you take, so compare the whole journey rather than just the flight. Check the airlines directly for current flight and route information. Where to stay
The tourism bureau divides the city into Kita, around Umeda, and Minami, around Namba and Tennoji, with the subway linking the two. In a rainy month, compare how short the walk is from each possible base to a subway station, weigh cancellation terms in case the weather changes your plans, and check how Osaka Prefecture's accommodation tax applies to your rate, since the bureau says it is paid to the hotel.
