When to go

Visit Victoria says Melbourne cools down from March, the first month of autumn, while the Bureau of Meteorology's normals, via the World Meteorological Organization, still show warm days and mild nights. Victoria's official holiday list for the coming year puts Labour Day early in the month and the Easter long weekend at the end of it, and daylight saving runs until early April. Check opening hours around both holidays.

The Department of Home Affairs' Electronic Travel Authority page lists the United States of America among the eligible passports and says how long you can stay after each entry, so read it while you compare flights. Victoria's clocks go back an hour when daylight saving ends in early April, so check arrival and departure times if your trip runs past the end of the month. For US government guidance, see the State Department's page for Australia, and check the airlines directly for current flight and route information.
