When to go

The city's official travel guide places the Feria de las Flores in August, with parades, concerts and the Desfile de Silleteros as its peak event, and the city government ties the festivities to the celebration of Antioquia's independence. Check the official guide for this year's program before you book. Colombian law lists two August holidays and moves one of them to a Monday, and the WMO climate table shows rain on many days of the month.

Where to stay

Medellín's official travel guide names the city center, the El Poblado neighborhood and the tourist corridor in the Laureles and Estadio sector as the areas with the most lodging. Compare those areas by their distance from a Metro station and from the Feria venues on your list, and read cancellation terms carefully for dates that overlap the Feria or the August holidays.

Getting around
