When to go

December falls after the eastern Pacific hurricane season, which the National Hurricane Center says ends in November. The tourism board lists the Los Cabos International Film Festival for the middle of the month, Christmas Day is a mandatory rest day under Mexican federal law, and the school calendar sets a recess that starts in the last part of the month, so check opening hours and event dates against your plans. Whale-watching dates are set each season by the federal environment ministry, and last season's window for the Los Cabos area opened in the middle of December, so check this season's notice before you plan a tour.
