When to go

June falls in the first rainy period that Costa Rica's national meteorological institute describes for the Pacífico Norte region, which includes Guanacaste, and the same summary places the first rainfall maximum in June. The National Hurricane Center's eastern Pacific season has already started, and the basin it describes reaches Central America. SINAC's page for Rincón de la Vieja National Park says sunny mornings and afternoons with precipitation are usual in the rainy season, so plan outdoor visits for the morning.
