Cusco in June
When to go
Inti Raymi is held every year on the twenty-fourth of June, moving from the Qorikancha to the Plaza de Armas and on to Saqsaywaman, so check PromPerú's event page and plan your days in Cusco around it. The climate table that the WMO relays from Peru's national weather service shows almost no rain in June and mean minimum temperatures close to freezing. Machu Picchu's daily visitor cap can rise in the high season, so check ticket availability on the ministry's system early.

Flights
PromPerú's route to Machu Picchu starts with a flight from Lima to Cusco, so compare connection times and arrival times against your first day's plans, especially near Inti Raymi. Peru's foreign ministry lists United States citizens as exempt from a tourist visa, and Migraciones requires a passport valid for at least six months. PromPerú notes that Cusco's elevation can cause altitude sickness, so read the CDC's Peru page and talk to your doctor before you travel. Before you go, check the State Department's page for Peru.
