Buenos Aires in December
When to go
In December the WMO normals from Argentina's national weather service show warm afternoons, mild nights and rain on several days of the month, so pack for warm weather and the odd wet day. Argentine law makes the Immaculate Conception, early in the month, and Christmas Day fixed national holidays, and lets the national government add tourism days each year, so check the official calendar for this year's dates and opening hours around them.

Flights
Most long-haul international flights use Ezeiza, according to the city's tourism site, while Aeroparque, in the city itself, mainly serves domestic and regional flights. Argentina's consulate in Houston says United States citizens do not need a visa to enter as tourists for a stay of up to three months. When you compare flights, check which airport each itinerary uses and its arrival time, especially around the holidays, and check the State Department's page for Argentina before you travel.

Where to stay
The city's official tourism site names San Telmo, Palermo Viejo and Soho, Recoleta, Balvanera and the microcentro as barrios best explored on foot, so compare stays there by how close they are to a subte station. Aeroparque sits in Palermo while Ezeiza is well outside the centre, so check how far each option is from the airport your flights use. Read cancellation terms carefully, especially for stays over the December holidays.

Getting around
Aeropuertos Argentina warns travelers at Ezeiza not to accept transport offered out loud, so arrange your transfer through the options the airport lists. The tourism site says buses and the subte need a rechargeable SUBE card, and the city government says subte turnstiles marked for it also accept credit, debit and prepaid cards, NFC devices and QR codes. The subte runs shorter hours on Sundays and public holidays, so check them for the holidays in the month.
