Barbados in December
When to go
December comes just after the Atlantic hurricane season, which the National Hurricane Center dates to the end of November, though it notes that storms sometimes form outside those dates. The Barbados Meteorological Services averages list December highs, lows, rainfall and rain days to weigh against your plans. Christmas Day and Boxing Day are both public holidays, so check how they fall against your dates.

Flights
Barbados' Immigration Department requires travelers to complete the online immigration and customs form, which opens shortly before arrival, and to show its receipt on arrival, along with a passport valid for the whole trip, a return ticket, the address where they will stay and evidence of support. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists United States nationals as not needing a visa; read the State Department's page for Barbados as well. The airport recommends checking in well ahead of international departures, so plan your trip back to the airport with that in mind, and check the airlines directly for current routes and schedules.

Getting around
The Transport Board asks bus riders to put the exact fare in the farebox, because no change is given. Taxis have no meters, so the tourism board advises asking the driver for the fare before you set off; it says rates are in Barbados dollars. To drive, get a visitor's permit from a rental agency or the Barbados Licensing Authority with your valid license, and keep to the left. Around Christmas Day and Boxing Day, confirm your transport plans ahead of time.
