When to go

December comes just after the Atlantic hurricane season, which the National Hurricane Center dates to the end of November, though it notes that storms sometimes form outside those dates. Compare the World Meteorological Organization's highs, lows, rainfall and rain days for Oranjestad above with the weather you want. Christmas Day and Boxing Day are both official holidays, so check the government's list for the days they fall on in your year.

Flights

Every traveler, infants and children included, must complete and get approval for the Aruba ED card, which the airport operator says can be filled out in the days just before the trip. A current passport is required, and the tourism authority says American citizens do not need a visa; check the State Department's page for Aruba for your own situation. On the way home, U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspects travelers at the airport before they board, and the airport operator limits how early U.S.-bound passengers may enter the U.S. check-in terminal as part of its construction measures, so read its current notices before you head to the airport. Check the airlines directly for current flight and route information.
